editors' profile: English mother tongue as basic requirement

ini encourages its members who meet the following criteria to apply for editing assignments at international organisations:

 

Candidates must be qualified in editing. They have to be English native speakers.

These English native speakers must also be able to translate from two of the following languages into their mother tongue: French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish.

 

Candidates must have a university degree in any subject.

 

application procedure

ini members who meet these criteria apply individually for paid freelance assignments at international organisations in Europe. ini members send their application from their ini email account, stating their availability.

 

Then the organisation decides on the ini member´s application. If the application is further considered, the organisation is asking the ini member to come over for a test. Related travel and accommodation costs have to be paid by the candidate. Usually this test lasts one day. Diligent test preparation is required.

 

assignments
If a candidate passes this test, then this freelancer will be included in the roster of the organisation, so that he/she can receive paid editing assignments. These in-house assignments usually last from some days to several weeks.
