The ini Project

or: What can ini do for me ?

ini wants to help highly qualified candidates to become freelance interpreters at
international organisations in Europe: ini certifies its members' qualifications by
testing their interpretation skills, advises them on placement opportunities and trains and supervises them.

Certification

Interpretation, translation and editing at international organisations are very demanding and highly sensitive tasks. Therefore ini makes sure that every candidate meets basic requirements: ini members have proved that they know source and target languages very well; besides an interest in international affairs, they also have shown a talent in interpretation.

ini certifies that its members have a passion for real understanding.

Advice on Placement Opportunities

ini suggests its members to apply for unpaid placements at international organisations. The aim of placements is to improve one's interpretation skills and to gain better insights into international relations. And trainees learn to know colleagues, trainees and professional interpreters, and get in touch with big conference organizers.

ini Training

Interpreters must be ready to practise efficiently on arrival at an organisation. Therefore ini members prepare conferences carefully, studying the general background, structures and proceedings as well as the terminology of an organisation. ini helps its members to prepare for their tasks.

ini Supervision

ini members remain in close contact with the ini secretariat. They inform the secretariat on their training experiences. There are regular conversations with a supervisor.
